Glitches [Live]

Glitches are the kind of band you want to get drunk and dance around with. A fun motley trio consisting of a drumming hippy, a smoldering rocker and an East London front man. They’ve found a mutual territory somewhere between indie and synth-pop.

Fairly new on the circuit, they are catchy, engaging and feel like they are bringing something new to the lackluster indie mix of late.

Debuting themselves with three headline shows inside a world war two bunker in Dalston alongside a host of musical peers, the band are fast proving they are creative as they are capable.

The first launch night event saw sets from moody guitar quartet Deaf Club, loop pedal genius Roscius and a questionable Christmas tree installation with Glitches taking to the low rise stage last inside the maze of forgotten rooms.

The venue may have been damp, but the atmosphere was far from it as lead singer Robbie Parks threw some serious shapes naturally creating a dancing swathe of people.

His ability to command an audience’s attention, and likely any dance floor he graces, is beguiling to watch as his charisma isn’t rooted in ego and installs an element of comradery with the audience. It is smiles all around as the band swing through opener Warm Seas and debut singles RGB and Only Tell Will Tell as Parks observes “You’re in our zone now.”

The band also give us a sneak peek of what’s to come with new geography themed singles Herculaneum and Halicarnassus. Both epic collisions of synth heavy soundscapes and thick bass, it is Park’s pop tinged and strong vocal ability that gives their sound distinction.

A cold but thoroughly enjoyable introduction to a band that deserve to be on many an ‘ones to watch list’ for next year.
